On the 1st August this year, our very own Simon Blair will be donning his best running gear to take part in his second ultra marathon following his successful Jungle Ultra in 2017.
In 2018, Simon will be taking on the For Rangers Ultra Marathon in aid of Hope for Children & Save The Rhino, which both have a massive impact on children and animals in Kenya, where the race is hosted!
He will run 5 stages totaling 230km and crossing five wildlife conservancies each of which has it’s own characteristic terrain from verdant grasslands to forest; the playground of East Africa’s iconic wildlife.
The trails through the grasslands will be baking and the terrain through the rocky hills and riverbeds will be rough underfoot. Undulating between 1500m and 2000m above sea level the habitat and conditions vary hour by hour. As a self-sufficient race, Simon will be carrying his entire kit, including food, safety equipment and at least 2.5 litres of water which can be refilled at checkpoints along the way.
As it was last year, this will be a true test of strength and endurance where Simon will have to overcome everything the African savanna has to throw at him - the heat, the terrain, the big cats!
Simon Blair is the founding partner of SHB, which is a commercial property agency that was set up nearly four years ago. The company has gone from strength to strength and this is just the beginning and the future is very innovative, driven and exciting. Information can be seen at www.shb10.co.uk
As a father of 3 himself, Simon is passionate about supporting the work of Hope for Children and continuing the partnership into it's second year, and is also excited to be co-supporting Save The Rhino, which does such fantastic work across the continent he will be running on.
